How to register to search engines and be present in the search results
Before a site is listed in the results of a search engine, it must be indexed.
The indexing happens when the pages are visited by robots, are analysed and saved in the database of the search engine.
If your pages are not indexed then the search engine has no data about your site, therefore it will not be shown in the list of results. Promoting your site is a continuous process that goes through the
optimisation of the pages, the increasing of good quality inbound links
and the continuous add of content.
However, the first step is to find out if a site is present in the main search engines.
Being indexed is usually easy. You will not have to do anything
special. Google will visit your site automatically as soon as it finds
a link.
With other search engines, indexing can be longer and more difficult.
When it comes to the directories, for example, submission must be done manually and
evaluated by the editors who will decide whether to insert your site or
not.
It is not necessary to register all the pages, the home page is enough.
If the site is optimised, the robot will follow the links and index all
the pages.
The updating of the databases of the search engines is a process that develops constantly.
Certain pages can appear, disappear then come back again.
For this reason you have to keep an eye on your pages and work monthly for them not to disappear: it would be bad for your business.
The most common reason about problems of indexing is the server hosting your site.
If the spider cannot contact the server when it visits it, it will not be able to update its database.
If this issue is repeated, your site can disappear completely from the list of results and lose its ranking.
