With no doubt, the <title> tag is the most important on a page when it comes to search engine optimisation.
This is because most of the search engines and directories give great importance to the keywords inserted in the title.
Besides, the title tag is the one that search engines usually show in a search. Use keywords in the title of the page to have it as descriptive as possible. When visiting your site, the spider will check first of all the <title> tag.

The <title> tag is what a browser shows in the title bar and it is not only the first line of HTML you can see on the page (even if the first line of the text should be descriptive too).
Search engines show the text in the title tag when your web page is listed in a result.
Having your title particularly descriptive, your site will show up higher than other sites having keywords only in the pages.
It will become even more useful when users bookmark your site: if it is a descriptive name, it will be easier for them to find your site next time.

Limits of the tag

We advise you to limit the length of the title to 50 characters, spaces included. The length accepted by search engines vary, but this way the results will be good.
