Things NOT to be done

Custom Search

Spamming a search engine is easy, even when not done on purpose: rules change continuously and without forewarning.
Many techniques of search engine optimisation are considered "spamming", things done only to reach a better position. As a main idea, don't think you can get away with trying to trick search engines. They are very susceptible: you would be caught, inserted in their black list and removed from their database.

Few things to avoid

01.Don't do anything aimed to alter the results. If you are thinking about doing something not reported on this site, then you are going beyond the optimisation and the search engines could penalise you.

02.Don't list keywords out of the correct metatag. Certain sites have a list of keywords inserted in a H1 tag, very small fonts, at the top of the pages. It's useless. Search engines don't consider at all a group of keywords inserted where not allowed.

03.Don't use for the text the same colour you are using for the background. This is what some webmasters do to add keywords that only spiders can see. Search engines are not stupid: sooner or later, you would see your site disappear from the search results.

04.Don't use multiple metatags. For example, don't use 2 <TITLE> tags.

05.Don't publish 2 pages with identical content. Don't duplicate your site and files with 2 different names.

06.Don't register your site to search engines too often: once a month is enough.

07.Don't use keywords in your metatag that you don't use in the content of the page.
